![]() ![]() Stray Cat Alliance considers it our responsibility to the cats and kittens we save every day and to our supporters who believe in the Stray Cat Alliance mission and vision, to remain and grow as a financially viable organization. In order to achieve a No-Kill Nation, Stray Cat Alliance has established the following organizational goals. Stray Cat Alliance's goal is to build a No-Kill Nation. ![]() Achieving this goal is represented by the number of lives saved and the community shelter's live outcomes rate with No-Kill level being achieved when the live outcomes rate is 90% or better. Stray Cat Alliance has developed and implemented model programs that reduce shelter intake and kill rates, and save the lives of cats and kittens which is the ultimate goal. Additional medical care is provided for cats who enter the program through both the SNR and TNR program to ensure their safety returning to field or if entered into our Adoption program due to their health or if their home area is too dangerous for return. Additionally, over 250 others cats and underage kittens were rescued from both the shelter and colonies and placed with collaborative partners. ![]() In 2014–the first year of this program–over 600 community cats brought to the shelter were returned to their homes. Ongoing education and outreach teaches the public about the importance of spay and neuter of community and owned cats. When location of kittens brought to the shelter are identified or hot spots of unaltered cats are reported, our trapping team targets those colonies to ensure that all breeding cats are sterilized. Targeted Trap/Neuter/Return is also integral to the SNR program to reduce intake of newborn kittens at the shelter. Working with the Long Beach Animal Care Services, SCA spays/neuters healthy community cats and returns them to their neighborhoods. Shelter/Neuter/Return at Long Beach Animal Care Services - an innovative, life saving program that reduces the death rate of healthy community cats trapped and brought into the shelter. ![]()
